Solar Decathlon Europe

Szentendre, Hungary was selected as the location for Solar Decathlon Europe 2019. Featuring a rich architectural and cultural heritage, Szentendre is located along the Danube, not far from the capital of Budapest. Solar Decathlon Europe 2019 will emphasize the simulation of renovating existing buildings using modern technologies and a mix of modern and reclaimed materials while focusing on interior comfort, four-season design, and architectural quality in the integration of the new technologies and materials.
Solar Decathlon Europe began on Oct. 18, 2007, when the Spanish and U.S. governments signed a memorandum of understanding to create the first Solar Decathlon Europe, a complementary competition to the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon. Spain hosted the first two of these competitions in 2010 and 2012. In 2014, Solar Decathlon Europe moved north to Versailles, France.
